Benefit in Kind for zero and low co2 emission vehicles
From 6 April 2020 company car drivers choosing a pure electric vehicle will pay no benefit-in-kind (BIK) tax in 2020/21. In addition, vehicles with co2 emissions of 50 and below.
HM Treasury says that for cars first registered from April 6, 2020, most company car tax rates will be reduced by two percentage points.
That means for a pure electric vehicle with zero tailpipe emissions, company car drivers will be taxed at 0%, paying no BIK tax at all. In addition, the zero percentage rate is extended to company car drivers in pure electric vehicles registered prior to 6 April 2020. The 0% rate will also apply to company cars registered from 6 April 2020, with emissions from 1-50g/km and a pure electric mile range of 130 miles or more.

Go Green with Pebley
Our Go Green initiative reflects our company ethos to reduce the harmful effects of motoring – from vehicles with low emission levels of 100 co2 and below, to reducing the amount of plastic used to maintain vehicles across our two sites. We offer peace of mind that you’re getting the vehicle most appropriate to you and the planet. And lower co2 emissions means lower fuel costs for you.

Have You Heard of Grey Fleet?
Many business users are unaware of ‘Grey Fleet’. Did you know that if you drive your own car for business use your personal car insurance will not cover you if you have an accident unless you have notified them in advance of business use? If a grey fleet driver is out on business, the company could be liable if they were to have an accident.
Many insurers will include cover for free or a nominal admin charge while some companies will insure the driver on their own policies, and for the avoidance of doubt, a ‘business journey’ is normally classed as any journey other than commuting to and from an employee’s single main place of work regardless of whether or not the journey costs have been reimbursed.
So, to be sure, notify your insurance company if you are using your vehicle for company business, or ensure your employer’s insurance covers you for these journeys.
