Pebley Beach unveils its new top team

A new hands-on ’top team’ is taking charge at Swindon Hyundai and Suzuki motor dealer Pebley Beach, as managing director Dominic Threlfall steps back to concentrate on the strategy of the business. 

Nick Pincott, the former general manager who celebrated 10 years with the company in July, becomes group operations manager, taking responsibility for day-to-day operational control of the company.

“I started my career with Pebley Beach at our Suzuki dealership in Wroughton,” recalled Nick. “And my first customer is still a customer of ours today, which is testament to our customer service and retention.”

Rising star Luke Rapley, who joined the business just five-and-a-half years ago as an apprentice, has been promoted to parts manager, having been identified early in his career as a candidate for succession planning. 

“It shows if you work hard your effort will be rewarded,” said the 23 year old former Swindon College student.

Meanwhile Emerson Phipps, who joined the company two year ago as senior sales executive, takes on the role of sales manager.

“It’s a great opportunity in a great business,” he said.

Besides determining and leading the strategic direction of the group, MD Dom will be passing his experience on to other motor dealers across the UK. He is currently working with nine companies selling various car marques across 50 sites nationwide, implementing best practise in process controls and customer service.

He will also be going into businesses in other industries in the UK and abroad, picking up tips to make UK businesses more efficient and customer-focussed. 

“Pebley Beach has a low staff turnover,” he explained. “And while that speaks volumes about how much people love working here – and appreciate the investment we make in them – there’s a risk that we could all become a bit stale.

“You have to challenge yourself all the time. That’s why I’m going to be out finding new ideas from all kinds of businesses, and seeing how they can be implemented at Pebley Beach and other businesses with which I’m working.

“Pebley Beach is punching above its weight when it comes to customer service and innovation. Many of the ‘fresh ideas’ pushed out by our suppliers have been tried and tested at Pebley Beach. I want the company to remain at the forefront of new thinking.”
